Principal's Report
We have completed another term through another lockdown where remote teaching and learning was the main mode of delivery. While we were physically distanced, technology helped bring us together socially. The articles and photos in this newsletter are a testament to this.
As a College, we have been conscious to provide a routine for students, to ensure that we stayed connected and that the learning could be progressed. Each Sub-school ensured that they held year level meetings with students to set up expectations and to provide information about support to students when needed. Each teacher, aide and tutor provided care and consideration to their students to maintain their learning while our Wellbeing team helped students and families through the tough times. I would like to acknowledge the efforts of all our students and particularly our families who are steadfastly assisting us in providing the very best education for their children. I know that the return to onsite learning is anticipated and we are eagerly waiting for a roadmap back to school.
The signing of the tender documentation for the Major Capital Works program was completed and submitted to the architects this week. There has been a flurry of meetings and discussions about cost cutting measures as the full extent of the roof costs were revealed. Roof leaks in a number of our buildings are a significant focus in this refurbishment and this opportunity allows us to fix the problems. A decanting process was also confirmed with the Administration block being the first building to be refurbished next term as it is the building which least affects College operations. I will be able to outline the plans for the program to the community next term.
The Department of Education has provided us with a great deal of information about the Covid-19 vaccinations. This has been passed onto the community. Our duty as a College is to make available the information so that families are well informed about the vaccination program.
Wishing everyone a wonderful break from the school routine. Enjoy the next two weeks.
