School Council

Kii TPS Community,

What a rollercoaster ride we have been on lately! It is so wonderful to know that soon all of our children will, once again, be back at school. For the students to return to face-to-face learning, with their wonderful teachers, and to get to see and play with their friends is a joyous thing.

The School Council would like to extend our gratitude to each and every member of the TPS staff. It takes a team to enable all students to participate in online learning, as well as catering for the needs of the students attending school each day. Our students are very lucky to attend a school that cares for each and every one of them.

Once again, lockdowns have caused many projects to be put on the back burner. This has not meant however, that plans have been shelved. The TPS School Council continues to meet and discuss ways of working together with the community to make improvements around the school, as well as developing initiatives that benefit our students. Hopefully, in the coming months, as life returns to some form of normality, we will begin to see some of these plans come to fruition.

Below are key updates on some of the things School Council continues to work on:

Social/ Fundraising – Thank you to the many families who have purchased boxes of mangoes this year. With so many of our fundraising opportunities unavailable to us, it has been wonderful to see so many get behind this initiative.

Buildings and Grounds – All Working Bees have been postponed until 2022, so keep an eye out next year, as many hands make light work.

School Uniforms – Council continues to liaise with PSW School Uniform to provide school delivery and collection services onsite at TPS. Again, due to COVID restrictions this is an on-going situation and we will bring you more information when restrictions ease. PSW will work with the school to enable 2022 Prep families to purchase uniforms.

If you are interested in getting involved around the school, there are several sub-committees everyone is welcome to attend. TPS Sub-Committees are – Finance, Education, Environment, Social, Communications, OSHC and Master Plan and Grounds. Please email the TPS School Council (schoolcouncil@thornburyps.vic.edu.au) for further information.

Social Committee

The Social Committee is a group of parents and carers of students at TPS who are interested in getting together to raise much needed funds for our school. But, we are not just about raising money - we are about creating fun events and activities for the whole school community!

If you are interested in joining us and have great ideas for how we can do this, please send us an email at thornburyprimarysocial@gmail.com
