A message from Megan

Acting Principal and Acting Assistant Principal

After completing a regional expression of interest I am thrilled that I can continue working with our staff, students and community in the Acting Principal role.

My top three priorities are,

  • To ensure we have a safe and supportive finish to term four.  I will communicate any updates from the Department of Education as they come to hand.
  • To ensure we return to classroom learning with a focus on Learning Confidence.  Our Deadly learners will be supported with classroom routines, strength based approaches and celebrating their learning growth.
  • To ensure that our Gurrin Gurrin (to grow)  transition into 2022 which sets all children up for success through the allocation of classes, teachers and positive wellbeing support as they have experienced two years of disruption.

Emma is going to continue as the Acting Assistant Principal for the remainder of the term.

We work closely together with a dedicated, compassionate and organised approach to leadership.   Emma's role is to ensure that our wellbeing, Deadly behaviours and school safety processes are embedded ready for our 2022 school review.  Already in her role, Emma has been successful in many school initiatives being awarded to TPS. These include;

  • Respectful Relationships lead school
  • Bronze Award for our Deadly School Wide Positive Behaviour program
  • Mental Health in Primary School Pilot program -
  • CASEA  - Austin Hospital Social Skill program

We are both excited for the opportunity to lead Thornbury Primary School as we have both completed our Victorian School Principal Assessment and have both worked in a variety of school leadership roles during our careers.

Although we are missing Leon, he is in regular contact with us and wishes us all the best for term four.
