From the Principal's Desk

Congratulations on making it through 12 weeks of remote learning and welcome back to Term 4! I hope that everyone had a relaxing break in the holidays.

As you are aware the government announced the roadmap for return late in Term 3 with a staggered return process over three consecutive weeks. This was changed last week with the high percentage of people vaccinated in NSW. Now all students will return by 25 October. There was a note detailing this information, along with the new afternoon pick up procedures for students communicated via Seesaw and Sentral last Thursday.

Please note, that the department has provided a deadline for staff to be fully vaccinated (with two doses) by 8 November. As Campbelltown was a LGA of concern, the school will return under Level 3 plus settings, this means that only school staff who have received both doses of vaccine will be onsite from 18 October. As a result, there is a small proportion of teachers who will not be returning to school at the same time as students. We will provide staff to cover these teachers and the learning program will continue to be followed for consistency.

Year 1 will return on 18 October with Kindergarten. Year 2 however, will not return until the week after. Year 1 students will be in classes, however two classes will be together with one teacher, for example, Year 1 from 1/2H may be with Year 1 from 1/2R. This will mean that your child’s teacher, may not be at school all week (if they are not double vaccinated), as they may also support the Year 2 students with remote learning. However, another Stage 1 teacher will take the class and will be teaching from the same program.

We have planned staffing based on the staggered return and the average number of students who have been attending during the remote learning phase. It is important, that unless you are an authorised worker who cannot work from home, that those students who are not required to be at school, continue to work from home. Please speak to your child’s teacher if there is a change of circumstances and your child will be returning earlier.

I understand that some families may have hesitancy sending their child/ren back to school with the COVID-19 virus lingering in the community. Rest assured that we have a COVID-19 plan in place that will support the safe return of students. There will be no availability of continued remote learning work, once students are expected to return.

All students in Years 3-6 will complete another round of Check-in assessments between now and the end of term so we can gather an accurate understanding of their learning need to support with planning in late 2021 and early 2022.

We are so excited for students to return and there will be much time getting back into learning behaviours and routines.

Please contact your child’s teacher if you have questions about the roadmap to return to school.
