School Council Update

On behalf of School Council I’d like to acknowledge the amazing work of Neil, the leadership group and all staff at SKIPPS. Our gratitude for all of their work and support was discussed at the last council meeting and I wanted share this feedback to the broader community and say a massive THANK YOU. Thank you for everything that you are doing to support our children and their distinct learning needs during this disruptive time.
Strategic Planning
Council are supporting Neil and the team to develop the school's 4 year strategic planning process. The majority of this work is completed by the team at SKIPPs with community and council input at times. Thank you again to everyone who participated in the recent community forums - an important component of the strategic planning process. At the last Council meeting, Michelle presented an overview of the Child Safe Standards and the Schools responsibilities and School Council’s obligations to manage child safety risks in the school environment. Sub Committee updates
Fundraising
The fundraising subcommittee are continuously adapting, rescheduling and innovating to develop initiatives to support the school community.
Don’t forget to get your mango orders in and pencil in the updated dates for term 4 events.
Education & Policy
The Education and Policy subcommittee have updated the Schools Complaints Policy and the Administration of Medication Policy. Student and teacher wellbeing and support is a continued focus for this committee.
Building & Grounds
The Buildings and Grounds Subcommittee have been busy! As we have not been at school for most of the term, some of the work they have organised may have gone unnoticed! As a reminder, the following has been completed this year:
- Phase 1 of school painting
- Road/Car Park resurfacing
- Mechanical ventilation student toilets
- Solar panel installation
- Cottage roof repairs
- Sports Shed and painting
Outside School Hours Care
The OSHC working party presented their proposed Expression of Interest documentation for the Outside School hours care contract to Council for feedback and approval. Thank you again to everyone who completed the survey and have provided feedback about their experiences. Council will be reviewing submissions during term 4 to appoint a OSCH provider for 2022.
If you would like to join a subcommittee - you are able to at any time, on Zoom at the moment. It’s a great way to connect with, contribute to and support our wonderful school.
Wishing everyone a relaxing and restorative break and hope to see you back at school soon.
