Science Olympiads Exams

The ultimate challenge for science students

At the end of July, 10 students nominated to complete in the Australian Science Olympiad exams. The Olympiad exams are a national enrichment program for secondary science students and provides rewarding opportunities to extend themselves way beyond school science through a challenging 2 hour exam.

EMC had seven students complete in the Junior Olympiad exam (years 7 to 10) and 4 students compete in discipline specific exams (year 10 to 12) for biology and chemistry.

EMC staff were extremely pleased with the students commitment as it was made more complex for some students having to complete it at home during lockdown.

We are pleased to announce EMC had 3 students awarded a distinction (Ethan Reeves, Jay Sucher and Louis Hall) and two students a credit (Thomas Goode and Kaiyah Ridgeway) in the Junior Olympiad. Austin Killeen achieved a credit in the Chemistry Science Olympiad Exam.

The remaining students all achieved a participation certificate (Amelia Dimech, Raya Stinchcomb, Megan Norton and Alex Humphrey).

An outstanding effort by all and we look forward to providing this opportunity to all our students again in 2022.
