Memory Lane

It is always a bit of fun to pull out the old photo albums and look through the photos in our Archives.  The memories flood back so quickly it is like it was yesterday.

The Roaring '20s

The 1920s was a time of change especially for women.  Young women demanded greater freedom, equality and independence.  They broke away from the restrictive and uncomfortable fashion of whalebone corsets, elaborate dresses and hats and instead opted for the more modern attire and the even more modern hemlines!!  Due to the showing of more leg, silk stockings and high heels became part of their wardrobes.  Women began to drink, smoke, apply makeup in public, cut their hair short and wear more revealing bathing suits.  They even learnt how to drive.

CLC continued to empower and educate women.  They pushed the boundaries of what was considered “gender norms” and encourage the students to go on to University many of whom attained qualifications in Medicine, Dentistry, Science, Architecture, Arts and Education.
