Big Science Competition 2021
As we battled through the challenges of 2021, endeavouring to keep everything as “normal” as possible, BMGS students in Years 7 to 10 participated in the Big Science Competition. Unfortunately, there has been limited opportunity to properly recognise the achievements of students in this competition – that is until the whole School Assembly last week. Although the awards related to the 2021 competition, the achievements were outstanding and deserved recognition on this stage. A full list of students receiving Distinction and High Distinction awards is below (note the Year relates to 2021).
We were delighted at the performances of all students, and encourage everyone to keep the bar raised high as we help develop the important skills of using evidence to draw conclusions and critically evaluating sources of information, in preparation for the information bombardment of today’s world.

Australian Science Olympiad Exams 2021
Students of Year 11 are invited to participate in the Australian Science Olympiad Exams, what are run in the middle of Term 3 each year. These exams are very rigorous and participating in them is a considerable challenge, For that reason it is appropriate to acknowledge those students who have embraced this challenge, some of whom have achieved excellent results:
Scarlett Frosh: Participation in Biology
Jamie Wennerbom: Credit in Biology and Participation in Chemistry
Oliver Freeman: Participation in Chemistry and Credit in Physics
Amy Ling: Credits in Biology and Chemistry and Participation in Physics
Vaughan Dugdale: Credits in Biology and Physics and Participation in Chemistry
Ethan Patton: Participations in Biology and Chemistry and Distinction in Physics
Congratulations to all students on these excellent achievements.
