Wilderness Education:

Canyoning

Year 10 Wilderness Education

Due to high water levels and damage from the recent flood events, our Year 10 students were restricted in their choice of canyon but were still able to enjoy one of the most picturesque canyons in the Blue Mountains: North Bowen's Canyon (aka Gobsmacker) near Mt Wilson. A key highlight for Year 10 was the moment the sun aligned with the canyon constriction and beamed down over the lunch spot.  The students proceeded to raise their hands in an effort to absorb as much warmth as possible which can be seen in the image below.  Other Year 10 students completed beautiful Yileen and Serendipity Canyons.

Year 11 Outdoor Leadership

Year 11 had the opportunity to undertake a canyon of their choosing, but again, due to the recent flooding events and road closures they were unable to do their initial canyon of choice. Year 11 adjusted their risk management and also chose North Bowen's canyon. All students demonstrated high level leadership, risk management, route finding and practical rigging skills.
