Libraries in books

It's expected that a library will contain books but there are also libraries in books, and some scary librarians!

Below is a list of ten books on our shelves that mention a library and/or a librarian.

With a dangerous madman on the loose and their beloved Miss Peregrine still in danger, Jacob Portman and Emma Bloom are forced to stage the most daring of rescue missions. They'll travel through a war-torn landscape, meet new allies, and face greater dangers than ever. Will Jacob come into his own as the hero his fellow Peculiars know him to be?

The Evil Librarian by Michelle Knudsen

The Midnight Library - No Escape by Nick Shadow

Emma and her friends are on a boring school history outing. But it suddenly becomes much more interesting when they find themselves on a terrifying journey back in time.

Everything!Other kids say she kills you if your book's overdue, she drives a weird car with something mysterious in the back, demands absolute silence in the library and no one wants to end up there alone with her.

The Devil Makes Three by Tori Bovalino

When Tess and Eliot stumble upon an ancient book hidden in a secret tunnel beneath the school library, they accidentally release a devil from his book-bound prison, and he'll stop at nothing to stay free. He'll manipulate all the ink in the library books to do his bidding, he'll murder in the stacks, and he'll bleed into every inch of Tess's life until his freedom is permanent. Forced to work together, Tess and Eliot have to find a way to re-trap the devil before he kills everyone they know and love, including, increasingly, each other. And compared to what the devil has in store for them, school stress suddenly doesn't seem so bad after all.

The Spook's Nightmare by Joseph Delaney

The County is facing dark days and the Spook is being haunted by terrifying dreams. Dreams that seem to be more like premonitions... With his precious library burned to the ground and his arch rival, Bony Lizzie, free again, things are falling apart. As nightmares turn real, the Spook's powers seem to be waning - just when he needs them the most.

Every Word by Ellie Marney

Rachel is still getting used to the idea of Mycroft being her boyfriend when he disappears to London with Professor Walsh. They're investigating the carjacking death of the rare books conservator, which appears to be linked to the theft of a Shakespeare First Folio from the Bodleian Library. The 13-storey Treehouse by Andy Griffiths

Who wouldn't want to live in a treehouse? Especially a 13-storey treehouse that has a bowling alley, a see-through swimming pool, a tank full of sharks, a library full of comics, a secret underground laboratory, a games room, self-making beds, vines you can swing on, a vegetable vaporiser and a marshmallow machine that follows you around and automatically shoots your favourite flavoured marshmallows into your mouth whenever it discerns you're hungry.
