Debating competition

Last Wednesday, Mietta, Caroline and Bosco represented Auburn High School in the Hawthorn Region at the first round of the Debating Association of Victoria (DAV) Schools Competition.  They argued passionately against the topic:  "That we should boycott major sporting events held in countries with poor human rights records".  They were supported by the other members of the AHS Intermediate Debating Team, Sophie and Anna, who helped them come up with clever arguments and rebuttals that appealed to both logic and emotion.  All three students thoroughly enjoyed their first experience of interschool debating and are looking forward to competing in future rounds.  Well done!
