From the Principal

Week 9 Term 1 2022

Dear Parents and Carers

I would like to commence our last newsletter of Term 1 with some "Thank Yous"

Firstly, thank you to our community for your understanding and patience during the term. COVID continues to present challenges administratively as well as in the school and home environments. We have had some interruptions to the regular day to day procedures on school life  but  we have been very fortunate that we have rarely had to  split classes due to teacher shortages etc. I know many other schools have had to do this.

Thank you to our students for their understanding.  They have had to deal with the challenges of only being able to play in certain areas, not having buddies, lunchtime clubs being restricted and having the disco postponed. All of these were frustrating, but all of the students understood the reasons why the above things occurred.

Thank you to our staff for their flexibility. At all times they have had the students interests at the forefront.  With their assistance we were able to make events happen e.g school camp as well as ensure the education of our students was high priority.

Thank you to our Parents Association for their efforts during  Term 1.  The Krispy Kreme fundraiser as well as the Easter raffle were both very well supported and organised. ( see below)

I would like  to wish everyone a wonderful holiday and a Happy Easter.   Stay safe over the  holiday period  and I look forward to seeing everyone next term.

Easter Re-enactment

Just a reminder that our Easter Re-enactment will be held tomorrow at 11.30am outside in the amphitheatre area.  All parents are invited to attend. Please note  parents  must be double vaccinated to attend. The re-enactment will  take us on the Journey from Palm Sunday to Good Friday.

On Tuesday the 26th ( first day of Term 2) we will celebrate the Resurrection at 9.00am.

(10-15 mins). Parents are once again welcome to join us.

Term End

Just a reminder that Term 1 finishes at 1.10pm tomorrow and Term 2 commences on Tuesday April 26th at 8.45am

Winter School Uniform

The official changeover to our Winter School Uniform will be Monday 2nd May.  Over the first two weeks of next Term parents may choose whether the children are in Summer or Winter Uniform depending on the weather.  All children need to be in their Winter Uniform as of Monday 9th May.  As previously mentioned due to the shortage of supply at Bob Stewart  there will be some flexibility until we are informed the supply issue has been resolved. Please monitor the socks your child/ren are wearing with their uniform to ensure that they are the school colours. (grey with green band) White socks must be plain, no logos!!!!!!!!

Playground

The area outside of the Yr 1/2 classrooms is currently being replaced.  Over the years it has become very uneven and it was definitely  time to replace it.

Extension of the rapid antigen testing program for schools

The Victorian Government has announced that it is extending the rapid antigen test (RAT) screening program for the first four weeks of Term 2.

If you need more tests ready for the return to school in Term 2 please collect from the office or let the office know to send them home with your child/ren.

The Department of Education and Training will  be making  RATs available  for any families who need a top-up for the school holiday period.

The screening recommendations will remain the same next term for students and staff:

  • primary and secondary schools – recommended to test at home twice a week
  • special schools – recommended to test five days a week due to the higher risk of severe illness for medically vulnerable children.

Thank you to everyone who supported our Easter Raffle. The raffle raised $1557.13. An amazing effort!!!!!!!

The following families will be eating a lot of chocolate this Easter!!!.
