Grade 5/6
'Day In Power'
Grade 5/6
'Day In Power'
What a way to finish Term 1!
As part of our Inquiry unit this term, we have been learning about Civics and Citizenship with a focus on Government. We have explored the three levels of government, parliament, democracy, how to vote and our role in the community. With our knowledge we combined this to form a 'Day In Power'. Students were broken up into groups where they planned a day of learning. The students and teachers voted for the group they believed to have put their best foot forward to run the day.
The students got to be the teachers and the teachers got to be the students. Even having their morning snack in the staffroom. In one classroom 'Her Majesty Eastwood' was the Monarch of it all.
Miss Lindh (Teacher) - "I liked teaching because it was a fun day and would love to do it again".
Giacomo (Student) - "It was fun and I really enjoyed it. I hope to have a go at teaching the class one day".
Miss Graham (Teacher) - "It was really good to be able to control people and the activities we had planned were a hit with the class".
Sarah (Student) - "I think it was fun because we didn't have to do hard work. We got to have some games most of the day and we didn't get told off for chatting in class".
Miss Greta: (Teacher) "It was really fun and fun to take charge. It was difficult because not everyone wanted to do the same thing at the same time."
Thank you everyone for your support this term, we really appreciate it. Enjoy the holidays!
