Principal's Update - Open Day support appreciated

Paul Clohesy

Dear families,

We really enjoyed welcoming the community into the school for Open Day yesterday. The College ran two sessions for our Open Day. The morning session enabled prospective parents and their children to tour the school while regular classes and a normal school day was operating.

These morning tours were led by our students, who did a fantastic job showing the families around and answering their questions. The feedback from those families attending the tour was about how proud the students were of the school and how much it meant to them.

The afternoon session included subject area displays and activities for the Year 6 students to take part in along with more formal presentations from myself along with our Year 7 Coordinator Jarmin Paddick, College Captain Ben Black, and College Vice Captain Bella O’Dowd. As well as being able to show off our wonderful facilities, Open Day gives us the opportunity to highlight the difference our school makes to each student who is enrolled here and that difference is articulated in our Trinity Difference Model that has a focus on character, skills and knowledge.

I would like to thank our staff and the many students who helped with Open Day. Our students joined the staff to lead tours, take part in subject presentations, provide music to entertain our visitors and also help with distributing refreshments. There were lots of staff and students here until quite late in the evening. We are very lucky to have such generous staff and students in our school.

It was great having Mixx FM broadcast from the school on Open Day having

access to our staff and students to highlight some of the benefits an education at Trinity College offers.

The next major event on our calendar is our House Athletics sports, which take place on Friday next week. This is always a fantastic day with lots of activities for all students to take part in. I would encourage all our parents and carers to make sure their children attend the House Athletics as building the House culture and taking an active part in our major carnivals, either as an athlete or supporter, is an important part of attending Trinity College and adds to the atmosphere of the day.

New Leaders

During our whole school assembly on Tuesday this week our newly elected Year 7 – 11 student leaders were commissioned and presented with their badges. It is always fantastic to see students putting themselves forward to help make Trinity College the best place it can be. I would like to congratulate all students who applied to be a Year Level Leader.
