Lunchtime Activities

As most of the Senior School students have embarked on their grade camps, those left at the school, and the Years 11 and 12 students have made the most of their absence by filling their time with some exciting activities. Lunchtimes have been extended due to no assemblies this week and students have had a whopping one hour and fifteen minutes for lunch.

What to do in all that time? On Monday we had a Nintendo Party in the Black Box Theatre where students competed in Mario Kart 8, Just Dance and Super Smash Brothers. The Theatre was decked out with coloured lighting, and a full wall-sized screen. A Nintendo Switch was brought in by Year 12 student, and Theatre Technician Team Captain, Oliver Davison, who also designed the lights for the event.

Tuesday we had a student and staff band perform in the Performing Arts Courtyard where everyone came to sit back, relax and enjoy the live music. The audience was treated to performances from the very talented voices of Mara Bodin and Abe Geyer, backed up by Ruben Notarangelo on Drums, Henry Livingstone on Trumpet and Percussion, and staff members Mr David Turpie on Bass Guitar and Mr Joshua McGuffie on Electric Guitar. We also had a surprise addition of Acoustic Guitar a few songs in from Year 11 student John Nankivell. Year 12 Student Levi Doble, used this event as a SAC for his VET 3/4 in Sound Production class, where he was required to plan, set up and mix the sound for the band. This took weeks of planning and liaising with AV staff, all to the student's delight for such a wonderful turnout. This event was also filmed and audio-recorded by Mr Adrian Hodda, and Miss Jessica Ford, our AV Staff members.

On Wednesday, the Year 11 students were treated to a movie as part of their lunchtime and Motivate session. They watched Zoolander on the big screen in the Black Box Theatre, followed by an Easter egg hunt in the Performing Arts Courtyard.

For Thursday, the Year 12 students played a game called "Sardines" in the PA Courtyard. It was quite the game. For those who don't know the game sardines, here is an explanation from Year 12 Student, Henry Livingstone. "Similar to hide and seek, one person finds a spot to hide and everyone else (the seekers) tries to find them. When seekers find the hider, they hide with the hider until everyone finds them or lunchtime is over. It's called Sardines because when we are all hiding together, we will have to be packed like sardines in a can."

To finish the week off, on Friday, the Year 12 Students had their Easter egg hunt.
