Mrs Ryan's Fortnightly Reflections

Welcome to Term 2 Everyone! It is so lovely to have everyone back, smiling and energised for the term ahead. I hope everybody's Easter was filled with rest, time with families and the opportunity to refresh for our cooler times ahead.

As we begin Term two we warmly welcome some staff members who have been on varied leave! Mrs Gabe Phelan is returning in an intervention role to support literacy and numeracy in the junior years, Mrs Emma Connelly will work in Year 1 and Mrs Hannah Fuller returns from maternity leave in a job share with Mrs Rule in Prep. Our students continue to be well supported by amazing educators. We hope they all transition well and enjoy being with the students.

The staff and students have also returned refreshed and ready for a prosperous term. As we celebrated Easter late this year we found ourselves entering into Catholic Education week earlier than expected! Next week we celebrate our Catholic Identity, welcome our community in, have fun with our teachers and peers and look forward to our Mum’s joining us later in the week also. Please see our schedule of events included in this newsletter!

As our covid restrictions continue to ease this term we hope to refresh our Parent involvement in school life. We will be seeking input from our community on a variety of aspects, and hope to engage Parent volunteers to help in our learning spaces. Watch out for these dates and events.

I do hope that families have all had the opportunity to review the key changes to our Covid Safe ways of being. Information was shared on Tuesday with key changes as follows;

  • Masks are no longer required - Optional for those wanting to
  • Staff & Students are still recommended to test twice weekly - RATS will be supplied for the first 4 weeks of term - please keep the school informed if positive
  • Only positive cases of covid are required to self isolate for 7 days - Close contacts who remain negative can attend school
  • Visitors, parents, external providers no longer need to provide proof of vaccination status to be onsite at school
  • Staff & Educators at St Mary’s must be triple vaccinated.

Next week we are excited to share and launch our new website! Our new website has a fresh new look, content and imagery which we hope captures who we are! We will share the link once the rollover from the old to new has occurred via email and our socials. Our website moving forward will be another active mode of communication for our families.

Traditionally in Catholic Education week we open our school to prospective families and host tours and an Open evening. These events will be held on Tuesday 3rd May with morning tours between 9am - 10am and our Open Evening at 7pm. I do hope to see many new and existing families there! At 7pm our online enrolment for stage one applications will open. All enrolments will now be completed online and via our website. We look forward to the feedback from our community around this initiative.

I look forward to the week ahead, seeing many of you and engaging with the St Mary’s community further. Catholic education week is usually pretty chaotic - but always so much fun!

Stay well and stay healthy.

God Bless,

Jasmine Ryan
