Student Spotlight: Sharie May Castillo

Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholarship

We are proud to announce that our very own Sharie May Castillo has been selected into the University of Melbourne Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program.

Her application was selected from over 1900, submitted by students across Victoria and the state’s border regions. They were impressed by both her academic achievements and community involvement.

Sharie has been actively participating in school productions, singing competitions and cultural diversity programs here at Staughton College since her arrival three years ago.

The program will provide her with:

  • An associate student card enabling her to access the largest library collection in the southern hemisphere.
  • A dedicated Facebook page for Young Scholars linking her to other high achieving students and the wider University community through student and academic blogs, podcasts and snapshots of daily life at the University. The page also features news and an opportunity for avid discussion with other Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars. To complement this there is also a dedicated page on the University website that provides Young Scholars with an overview of the program's selection benefits, key event dates, answers to frequently asked questions, and is home to valuable resources such as revision lecture notes.
  • Invitations to functions at key University events, such as Open Day.
