Staughton Effective Learner

Staughton Effective Learner
An integral component of every lesson at Staughton College is building student capacity to become effective learners, manage their learning, and challenge themselves to learn.
In our first week of school, each student has had a lesson on developing a growth mindset where you keep trying and don’t give up if it becomes too hard. You may not be able to do something….. YET! But if you try and persevere, you will achieve. A growth mindset is about putting in effort and accepting the challenge to try something more than once and stick at it until you succeed.
Being a Staughton Effective Learner involves taking on the challenge and responsibility for your own learning, being resilient enough to not give up, and reflect on your progress. Students will regularly conference with their classroom teachers and set learning goals.
Staughton Effective Learners understand their assessment and actively seek feedback about their goals and progress. They know what they know and what they don’t know, and what strategies they will use to get to the next level.
Being a Staughton Effective Learner provides students with the opportunity to grow and develop and become successful lifelong learners.
