Cambodia Mission Team 2018

2018 Cambodia Mission Trip

We have a talented and eager Cambodia Mission Trip team of 12, excitedly looking forward to December. When the exams are over and holidays are beginning we will be flying out on St Andrews second Mission Discovery Trip to Cambodia.

We will travel with Samaritan’s Purse staff to see how God is working through our brothers and sisters there, using the financial resources we have been able to give. We will be visiting villages, running activities at schools and participating in Christmas in a Shoe Box distributions, maybe even handing out some of the boxes students at St Andrews Christian College have donated.

The Cambodia Mission Trip team are Hamish Maudlin, Alex Visser, Eunice Lim, Katelyn Farmer, Emilie Hughes, Natasha Rowley, Tom Audet, Hannah Collis, Aimee Crotty, Mrs Lepileo, Miss Easton and Mr Crotty.

Please encourage and pray for our team throughout the year as we raise funds, prepare for and then serve God through this trip.

Fundraising

Last year we were able to send just over $10 000 to Samaritan’s Purse in Cambodia to help pay for toilets and safe drinking water in the Prasat Rang school.

This year we would like to raise the same amount again to provide resources and teacher training at Prasat Rang.

Improving the quality of teaching has a huge effect as this testimony from another school shows;

‘Because of Samaritan’s Purse We Can Read, We Can Write program, literacy tools, tablets, and computers have been provided; as well as teacher training to maximize use of these materials. As a direct result, literacy rates in primary students at Kauk Prech increased from only 5% of students being functionally literate to 70% in just one year.  With the tools and materials available, passionate and driven teachers like Lang Sreynuth have the means to effectively impact young lives and educate the children of Cambodia.’ (See https://www.samaritanspurse.org.au/shaping-young-minds/ for the full story)

We can help achieve the same result at Prasat Rang School and we hope to visit the school on our mission trip in December.

The majority of our college fundraising this year will be directed to this project so please give generously when the opportunity arises.
