Year 8 Myall Creek Excursion

by Anna Seccombe

On Tuesday 28 June 2017, Year 8 visited the Myall Creek Massacre Memorial Site as part of the Religious Education and HSIE curriculum.

Students participated in a Liturgy to commemorate and pay respect to the victims of a senseless massacre, which occurred on June 10, 1838 when twenty-eight unarmed Wirrayaraay women, children and elderly men were murdered by a mob of stockmen. Aunty Noeline Briggs also shared a beautiful reflection and spoke about the atrocities experienced at Myall Creek Station.

Thank you to Aunty Noeline Briggs, Simone Dahlstrom, Sharon Cooke and Shirley Johnston for joining us on this moving experience.
