This week, our school community has been immersing itself in NAIDOC Week activities with Liturgy and Flag Raising events, Year 8 Myall Creek excursion, Clontarf boys and Sista Speak girls visit and Kindergarten learning about the Aboriginal Flag. The remainder of the week has a full schedule of events.

The sacrament of Reconciliation will we take place in our parish, St Francis Xavier, next term. There is important information in this newsletter regarding our parish based program.

By this stage, following frequent call outs, applications for enrolment from existing families for Kindergarten 2018 should now be at the school. The school cannot guarantee places for late enrolments from within our community. If you have friends or relatives who are interested in St Philomena’s School for their children, please advise them that enrolment applications are currently available and are required at the school by Friday 30 June, in readiness for processing early in Term 3.

Congratulations  to Kara and Ben Carrigan on the safe arrival of baby Rupert last week.

This Friday, Mrs Deanne Battistuzzi concludes work to commence her maternity leave. For the duration of Semester 2, I am pleased to advise that Mr Peter McKenzie will join our staff. Peter comes with great experience and enthusiasm and being a coastal local is looking forward to a rural experience.

Jane Clark has been appointed to the position of Uniform Shop Assistant. The Uniform Shop hours remain the same, Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning.

The Parents and Friends Association will be hosting their annual trivia night, 'Trivia in July', on 28 June. Please consider grabbing a group of friends and joining the night.  The work of the association goes a long way to support the school. All parents are members of the association by virtue of having children at the school. Thank you for the recent eight 2 metre bench seats recently provided.
