Numeracy Week

Numeracy Week
Numeracy Week at Staughton took place from Tuesday, the 13th of March, until Friday, the 16th of March. Throughout the week, we had a daily quiz and daily lunchtime activities. These activities were well attended with students from all year levels participating. As in previous years, Pie for Pi was the most popular activity with students reciting the digits of the number to receive a party pie in exchange.
Tuesday saw students taking photos of Maths around the school. Congratulations to the winners, James Taylor, Craig Watson, Kaley Roe, Jazzie Donnelly (Junior) and Gab Manalastas (senior) who won the prizes.
Thursday saw teams battle it out in a Maths quiz relay. Students and teachers alike participated and tried to outscore each other. Congratulations to the winning students, Nicole Nicholas and Fahad Moidy.
Friday saw students pit their wits against a number of codes. With the help of different ciphers, Gab Manalastas and Joe Hiram cracked the code to the padlocks and opened the box to win the prize.
Daily quiz winners were chosen at random from the correct entries. We had a number of students enter daily. Congratulations to all who entered. Winners were announced via the school bulletin.
Overall, it was a successful numeracy week where students were able to engage further with Mathematics outside of the normal classroom setting. We look forward to continuing to engage students with Mathematics during the remainder of the school year.
