Financial Assistance for Families

CAMPS, SPORTS & EXCURSIONS FUND (CSEF)

School camps provide children with inspiring experiences in the great outdoors, excursions encourage a deeper understanding of how the world works and sports teach teamwork, discipline and leadership.  All are part of a healthy curriculum.  CSEF is provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities.

If you hold a valid means –tested concession card or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible for CSEF.  A special consideration category also exists for asylum seeker and refugee families.

The allowance is paid to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions or sporting activities for the benefit of your child.

The CSEF payment cannot be used towards voluntary school charges, books, stationery, school uniforms, before/after school care, music lessons, or formals/graduations.

The annual CSEF amount per student is:

YEAR 11 VOICE WORKSHOP

Year 11 Theatre Studies had the pleasure of participating in an Ensemble Voice Workshop with Mabel Windred Wornes a past Collingwood College student from the class of 2018. Mabel skilfully guided the students through a 1.5hr vocal workshop that focused on ensemble voice techniques that the students can incorporate into their VCE Pre-modern Theatre performances scheduled for Term 2. It was fantastic to see past students working with current students and as a school it is always wonderful to know what our past students are embarking on after leaving the college.

Mabel is currently in the process of recording her second full length album with her sister Ivy (Year 12 at Collingwood College) for their folk duo outfit ‘Charm of Finches’. Mabel is also pursuing her work as a voice over artist and actor and is involved with a production with The Australian Shakespeare Company’s Graduate Players. After performing in Melbourne, this production will take Mabel to Prague in May to perform in the Prague Fringe Festival. She will then be taking part in an acting intensive with the Prague Shakespeare Company before embarking on her own travels around Europe.

We wish her all the best for her future performance endeavours and can’t wait to welcome her back to continue to work with our Theatre students.

CALL TO HELP THE HOMELESS

The Year 11 Intermediate VCAL class are currently completing a unit on homelessness as part of their Personal Development Skills subject. They have been researching this complex issue and visited The Big Issue to hear from one of their vendors. The students decided that they would like to do what they can to help those in need. They have chosen to organise and run a range of material aid fundraisers to assist the homeless.

The students have decided to collect blankets to donate to Anglicare as part of their annual blanket drive, non-perishable food to donate to Foodbank Victoria, and sanitary items such as pads and tampons to donate to Share the Dignity.

There will be labelled collection boxes in the front office from the 23rd of April to the 7th of May. Any donations are greatly appreciated and we thank you in advance for supporting this very worthy cause.

Below are the posters the students have created that you may have seen around the school.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
