Congratulatons and thank you
We would like to congratulate all of our students for the very positive way in which they have started the school year. They have, in general, been very well prepared for school and classes with equipment and uniform, and their enthusiasm and positive attitude are really delightful. We have been particularly impressed by the way they have welcomed and mentored the new students.
Thank you to you, as parents and guardians, for all you have done to contribute to such a great start to the year. We know what a demanding and costly process it is to set your children up for a school year, and appreciate your support in ensuring a positive start for them & for the school.
College Captains 2016
At our recent school assembly, Student Leadership Coordinator, Ms Meaghan Hocking, had the pleasure of presenting the College Captains for 2016 to the school community.
Congratulations to our Captains, Chris Mabiala and Caroline Vo, and Vice Captains, Warkaw Admassu and Annie Pham. Chris, Caroline, Warkaw and Annie were elected by their peers, following a nomination process. They will be excellent representatives of their peers and ambassadors for the school, & we look forward to working with them throughout the year.
They did a wonderful job of welcoming the new Year 7's at the assembly as their first official duty.

Whole School Assembly
On Wednesday 3 February, the college held its traditional Whole School Assembly to welcome the new Year 7 students to our learning community. It was the largest number of new students the college has seen and they all received a warm welcome from students and staff. The assembly was extra special this year as the college celebrates its 60th Anniversary and we took some time to draw everyone’s attention to how much the college has changed and grown. We were honoured to have several students from the college’s first enrolment in 1956 in attendance.
Mr George Pyers at 72 was our oldest first student. The local Primary School Principals were welcome guests.
The School Captains, Christopher Mabiala & Caroline Vo officially welcomed the Year 7 students and in turn Daniela Nesvadba and Victor Ly from Year 7 thanked them and passed on their time capsule to be opened in 6 years.
The staff bands played a rocking number from the 1950’s, House Captains and SRC students were introduced and finally the entire college, staff & students moved to the oval for a special photograph.
We acknowledged Mr Wally Gatt who, after serving this college and St Albans East Primary School as School Council President for many years, is retiring.
It was a wonderful morning that even the persistent drizzle could not spoil. A big thank you to our guests and everyone involved. St Albans Secondary is a special community to be part of and the sense of respect, pride and care for others shown during the assembly was a great example of why it is such a great community.
Year 7 Expo - Tuesday 8 March
Parents and families of our Year 7 students are invited to join the Junior Sub School team and teachers for the annual Year 7 Expo to be held at the school on Tuesday 8 March.
Come along to enjoy a BBQ with other families and your child's teachers. The Expo is also an opportunity to hear about and see the work your son or daughter has been doing in each of their subjects, to chat to teachers, and to meet your child's friends.
We look forward to seeing you at the Expo.
