Farewell Year 12

Year 12 Farewell

Although I have known the current Year 12 student cohort for what seems like a very short time, over the past two years I have gained enormous admiration for their many and diverse talents. Their mentors and I have seen incredible pieces of art, heard the most beautiful musical performances, enjoyed skilled acting, cheered fine sportsmanship and witnessed admirable commitment to academic excellence. But perhaps the most impressive quality is one that I have seen embodied by both individuals and the collective — they genuinely care about each other. And this is what makes them a great team!

Teamwork and organisation are the keys to surviving and thriving in Year 12. Whether it be study groups in the library or an invigorating game of spider on the basketball court, the young people whose success we are celebrating this week, have supported each other through what has been the most challenging year of their lives. In the words of Aristotle: " the whole is greater than the sum of it’s parts".

On behalf of all the Year 12 mentors and all the staff at Castlemaine Secondary College I would like to congratulate the Year 12s on surviving and thriving in 2016. For those who still have exams to complete, we wish you good luck. And we wish all you good fortune as you begin the next chapter of your lives.
