PRIMARY NEWS
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Please take a moment to read about some news relating to the Primary School:
3-4 REGGIO END OF YEAR CELEBRATION
Our class has been working hard to become a brave, have-a-go classroom. This was on display at our end of year celebration. Our classroom became a Chinese restaurant, staffed by the teachers, and students ordered for themselves and their families. Our meeting area was turned into a gallery filled with beautifully presented poems about our year together and many students bravely recited their poems for the guests. What a great end to our year together!
Regards,
Katherine Watson

Prep 2018 Enrolments are are almost finished their transition program. Please make sure if you have a child that is eligible for Prep in 2018 that you come to the front office and collect an enrolment form. Both Steiner and Reggio places are filling faster than expected. Enrolments are taken on a 'first in-first served' basis.

COLLINGWOOD COLLEGE FEMINIST COLLECTIVE
Dear Collingwood College Community,
Students in the Year 5-6 sector established the Collingwood College Feminist Collective (C.C.F.C) in 2016. An article about the Feminist Collective appeared in the Australian Education Union (AEU) magazine after we were interviewed about our activism. In 2018 we aim to continue fighting for equal rights for women and promoting gender equality.
If you are at all interested in the Feminist Collective or have any ideas or questions, please don't hesitate to contact Kate Schmeiszl or any student from Class 6D.
Merry Christmas and Warm Regards,

PATHS
PATHS (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies) is an extensive and holistic program for encouraging social skills and emotional literacy in Primary and Secondary students. PATHS is designed to be used by educators and psychologists and effectively addresses behavioural problems.
PATHS was implemented in the Primary School at Collingwood College in 2014 and later adopted by the Lower Secondary School.
Lessons in the PATHS program are adapted to the disparate pedagogies within Collingwood College and include guidance in identifying and articulating emotions; appropriate emotional expression; interpreting social cues; controlling impulses; using strategies for problem solving; developing a positive sense of self and learning to value the perspective of others.
PATHS lessons often form the basis for rich class discussion and assist students of all ages to develop emotional intelligence.
The PATHS focus in the Upper Primary School this term has included conflict resolution; learning de-escalation strategies; stress management; and developing awareness and respect for divergent views and beliefs.
Please speak to your child's teacher about current PATHS lessons in their classroom.
