Message from Mr Vines.......

What a busy term!

What a busy  term! It has absolutely flown by, both with being a short term and all the changes that we have experienced. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our families, we have had so many parents come to us and express their support. This makes such a difference to our staff and it goes to show what an amazing community we are building here are South Melbourne Park Primary School.

SMPPS Video

Our amazing teachers have put together a fantastic video celebrating all the work that the students have done this term. I highly recommend that all families watch this with their children. There are so many positives from this term and it is important that we do not forget them, and in particular that we are celebrating them with our students. You can find it in our Compass Post

Health and Wellbeing Subcommittee

At South Melbourne Park Primary we are passionate about creating an environment ‘where kids love to be’. To this end, we have a Wellbeing subcommittee dedicated to ensuring that the needs of all students are being met. The sub-committee is comprised of parent members who are passionate in this space and are able to dedicate some time to supporting the school and their children in this area. An easy way to think of subcommittees is that they are the ‘working parties’ for school council. We would love to have any interested parents join our Health and Wellbeing subcommittee, and if this sounds like an area that you would be interested in please contact myself or the office. Please also feel free to get in touch if you would like to discuss further.

Free Online Resources

Audible is an online audiobook platform, and they have decided to make listening free for all users at the moment. This is a fantastic resource for you to access if you want to listen to a book with your child as you are cooking or doing something around the house. If this sounds like it would interest your family please just go to Audible.com and start listening. There has also been a lot about Social Distancing in the news at the moment. For some students this can be a hard concept to grasp, Time to Come in Bear is an excellent social story on YouTube that has been put together to help families discuss this concept with their children.

Class Representatives

Over the holidays you may wish to connect online with some of the other children and families in your class. Please remember that every class has a class representative and Family and Friends have been working to make sure that everyone feels connected. Please find the representatives for each class in the Families and Friends section of this newsletter. Please get in touch and ‘be connected’!
