Mental Health Month (October) Display
We've been celebrating Mental Health Month with a fantastic display of books and posters during October. Our students have enjoyed the suggested great reads and the beautiful posters.
This awareness month is celebrated each year in the month of October in NSW and it aims at encouraging all of us to think about our mental health and well being. It also gives us the opportunity to understand the importance of mental health in our everyday lives and encourages help seeking behaviours when needed.
This year the theme for Mental Health Month is Share The Journey.
Here are few tips for good mental health to apply: Eat healthy, be active, enjoy walks with family and friends, get 8 hours of sleep, talk about your feelings with someone you trust and look for professional help if you need it.

Year 8 Library Lessons Updates
Year 8 students have been learning about cyber-bullying during their library lesson classes this term. They have been engaged in class activities and discussions about cyber-bullying, where it most commonly occurs, the reasons behind people cyberbully others, it's deep effects on people and what to do if they get cyber-bullied.
Year 8 students were asked to do a topic summary on cyber-bullying by using padlet.com. They were exposed to using padlet, created a fantastic and informative topic summary and presented it in a visually pleasing way.
What is Padlet?
Padlet is a free online “digital bulletin board” with digital sticky notes, where users can post thoughts on topics. Students can easily create a free account by signing in with their Google account details and they can build a board by adding information, images, links, videos, and more about the topic they have been learning about.

“HSC: All My Own Work” Program
In term 4 all Year 10 students will be undertaking a series of 5 modules that make up the mandatory "HSC: All My Own Work" program. It is a compulsory course designed by NESA to help HSC students learn about the principles and practices of ethical scholarship.
The program's content is divided into five modules:
1. Scholarship Principles and Practices
2. Acknowledging Sources
3. Plagiarism
4. Copyright
5. Working with others
Ms Chalhoub (Teacher Librarian), with the assistance of the Ms Jansen (Careers Advisor) have started delivering this program during Year 10 (PMF) classes. In Module 1, students learnt about good scholarship principles and practices, meaning three things: being honest and ethical, listing all sources and using their own words when completing assignments. They also learnt about their rights and responsibilities in ensuring the intellectual integrity of their work, malpractice, why do people cheat and the consequences of cheating in the HSC.

Returning Library Items
A friendly reminder that the books in our collection are borrowable for two weeks. Students need to come to the circulation desk and ask library staff for an extension time on their loan if they still need more time to finish reading a book. Thank you for your cooperation in advance and for returning items on time.
