Football

The ASC Open Boys football are thrilled to be the regional finalists in the Bill Turner Cup  after beating Oxley High School, in the semi finals, 4-1; and McCarthy Catholic College 6-0 in the finals.

Well done players!

Football

The ASC Under 15 girls are also off to the regional finals after winning their soccer game against Tenterfield, 3-1.

All the best for your finals game girls!

Table tennis

The ASC table tennis team played in the Country High School State Finals in Sydney last week and achieved an astounding 4th place out of 10!

The team of year 10 boys played brilliantly. These students have shown significant effort and consistent commitment  over time in their practicing and playing.

Thank you to their coach Mr Suddaby for his support and encouragement of the sport and players at school.  Great appreciation to the parents who supported the students' travel to compete.

Touch

The Open Girls Touch team played and exciting game in the regional final against Inverell . Inverell coming out hard and led 3-1 at half time. ASC girls rallied to claw back some tries in the second half to get the score to 4-3 down. A late charge in the final two minutes nearly saw the game end up in a draw but it wasn't to be for ASC. Inverell holding on to win 4-3.

The girls are still through to the state draw and now play Narabeen Sports High on Wednesday 3rd July at Rugby League Park Armidale. The game will be at 9.30 am and will be a big test for the girls who are in the top 20 schools in the state at the moment. A win in this game would send them to the top 10 play-off series conducted over three days in Sydney.

Well done to the girls for their effort and sportsmanship over the competition so far.

Netball

Do you know that netball as a sport has been added to our broad range of sporting activities this year?

These Stage 4 girls love playing netball each week. Not only are the benefiting from all that physical activities brings, but their netball skills are quickly developing, and they are also having fun.

Futsal

What a terrific achievement for Ryan Harris to be selected in the National Futsal Squad to represent Australia in the upcoming tour to Brazil!

Congratulations Ryan!

Volleyball

Congratulations to Katie Haynes on being selected to represent the U/19 NSW Volleyball team!

Dance

Well done to Elizabeth Zemlyanoy who auditioned for, and was then invited, to join Elite Group of the State Dance Ensemble.

Shooting

Patrick Simpson and Josh Dawson competed in the four day NSW Grouping and International Rimfire Benchrest Championships.

Year 9 student Patrick came away with five medals, a screamer and top ten patch for his diligent effort. Pat won Gold in the 50m Light Class Grouping; a Bronze in the 50m 100m combined Light Class;  a Silver in the 50m Heavy Class Grouping event; and 8th in the combined 50m, 100m combined Heavy Class Grouping event securing his placement in the Top Ten shooters.  In the 50m Light Class event he had an aggregate of .4552 narrowly missing out on breaking the NSW record of .4312. Pat achieved a “screamer” patch for shooting a very small group of .169 in the 50m Heavy Class event and was awarded the Top Junior for the weekend.

Josh shot very well and consistently all weekend , scoring two great groups of .286 and .288 in the 50m Heavy Class event. The weather conditions were extremely varied and challenging over the four days making these achievements all the more amazing.

Congratulations to both Josh and Patrick!
