Super 8's Cricket

With both days experiencing a drizzly start our teams presented themselves with enthusiasm and good sportsmanship, not allowing the weather to dampen their spirits.

The Years 7 & 8 Super 8's Cricket was held two weeks ago, our teams were very well represented in the cricket and enjoyed their day on the wicket with compliments from the Cricket Victoria representative Stephen Field on their behaviour and energy.

The 9/10 Super 8's cricket was held last Wednesday with our year 9 girls making it through to to the Grand Final against Monivae.  Unfortunately they did not experience the same success as last year finishing on top but they did us proud none the less winning their games throughout the day to progress to the final.  Our Year 10 Girls won two of their three games and had a fun day out.

The Year 9 and Year 10 boys teams played some good cricket and had a great day with some excellent displays of sportsmanship and skills.

Thank you to the students who assisted with coaching and umpiring on both days, your support was very much appreciated.

A Champion in our midst

James Cleaver competed in the School Sports Victoria Championships in Melbourne last week where he placed 1st in the 200m (22.06) and 400m (49.96) and 3rd in the 100m (11.45).

Athletics Victoria watched James' run on the live stream and contacted him shortly after to see if he was interested in competing in the Victorian All Schools Championships to which he has accepted.  If he places 1st or 2nd in his events there he will go on to compete in the Australian All Schools Track and Field competition in December in Cairns.

James does not have a coach and doesn't train, a fact that most of his competitors were astonished about as they train twice a week.  Best of luck to you James, we will be watching on with pride.

A special mention to Emily Pitts who did not place, to reach that level is a huge accomplishment on it's own.

Minyip Shoot

The annual Minyip shoot was again popular with 19 Baimbridge shooters in Year levels ranging from Yr7 to Yr 11 and both genders. Over 470 from around the state competed this year. Targets were difficult in the warm blustery conditions. It was the first hot day of the season and there were plenty of interested parents present which was terrific. Ex students were also in attendance.

All students acquitted themselves well with Gemma Hill looking like she would win the senior girls when the bus left Minyip for the long drive home.

A great day and thanks to families for the support of all the shoots this year.

Regards Mr Hill

Brendan's Big Cross Country Adventure

In September and early October Brendan Paterson lived his dream of travelling to the USA to spend 16 days touring from Los Angeles to Las Vegas with Sports Travel Australia.  Brendan competed in the Falcon Invitational Cross Country event where he placed 32nd out of a field of 137 and in the Lake Med Invitational where he placed 3rd out of a field of 147.

Brendan has been experiencing success at home in events such as the State Cross Country last year and more recently his 14th place in the Warrnambool Surf to Surf and decided to embark on the USA Sports Travel experience after they invited him to attend with 20 girls and 19 other boys.

Congratulations on your great result Brendan, we will enjoy following your Cross Country journey in the coming years.
