School-wide Positive Behaviour Support Reward Lunch

On Thursday 27th June, 22 students were invited to attend a reward lunch at Roxburgh House to acknowledge their positive behaviour in term 2. Baimbridge College staff were on the lookout for positive behaviours that reinforce our values of PRIDE, COURAGE and RESPECT and awarded students positive behaviour cards when they saw it. The cards were tallied up in the final week of term and invitations were sent out to the students. It was a very difficult task to only take 22 students as many students received acknowledgement for the great behaviour.

The attendees were: Archie Buck, Tara Baker, Ella Sevior, Milly Wright, Chelsea Fitzpatrick, Callum Hill, Eddie Kelvy, Drew Garrett, Lucy Hardy, Kai Stevenson, Indianna Freeman, Olivia Mirtschin, Austin Parker, Joey Lehmann, Kiarah Handreck, Brooke Hill, Ryan Holmes, Michelle O'Connor, Jess Norris & Ksenija Gilchrist. Kane Agnew and Miranda Ahearn-Chevers also were invited but were unable to attend on the day.

Approximately 350 individual positive behaviour cards were awarded in the final 4 weeks of term. This means that at least 350 times in those weeks staff and student relationships were strengthened by acknowledging the positive work and behaviours on display at Baimbridge College. This also gives the School-wide Positive Behaviour Support Action team some interesting data to work on as we further develop the way we promote and celebrate our school values.

Congratulations to the students involved and thank you to all the staff for participating.

WDHS Careers in Health Day

A great day was had by all who attended the recent WDHS Careers in Health day.

SWTAFE, the LLEN and WDHS combined to organise a day that provided local year ten students with a range of experiences across multiple health disciplines. Students were lucky to hear from current medical students, a paramedic, radiographer and pharmacist about their industries and the qualifications needed to be successful. Following on from this, students were able to select four workshops that covered more specialities such as dietetics, speech pathology, podiatry and aged care.

The health industry is the region’s second largest employer behind agriculture. Students were encouraged to access the local area for work experience, VET courses and post school training and employment.

Thanks to SWTAFE, WDHS and the LLEN for a great day that both informed and inspired.

Volunteering at Sheepvention

Senior VCAL students have this year volunteered to assist in the setting up and packing up of Sheepvention.

The students will walk up to the Hamilton Show Grounds every Friday morning to work from 9am to 1 pm with other volunteers and business. Today they helped set up marques and stages, move and set up equipment, spread wood chips, arrange posters, and other advertising material.

While working the students showed their positive attitude and willingness to give back to our community. At the same time the students are developing their work-related skills and expanding their personal and professional networks through the people they are working with and meeting along the way.

So far, the feedback has been very positive. Wendy Dean, Events Coordinator for Sheepvention, reported that the students worked very hard and had to be interrupted to have a break for morning tea. She also remarked that there was a stream of inquiry from others setting up on site asking if the students could also help in other areas.

The students will volunteer at Sheepvention for the next three weeks. It is planned for volunteering at this event to become a fixture for year twelve Baimbridge College VCAL students into the future.

Can you please help??

Our canteen is in desperate need of volunteers.  With limited names on the roster in 2019 (thank you  thank you thank you for your contribution to our school to those who have volunteered) we are calling for volunteers.

We do not care how long you can give.  One hour will be better than nothing.

Our canteen has already lost one trading day and the students miss that dearly.  Without volunteers we could lose another.

If you are able to assist please complete the form below and return it to school.  We appreciate anything we receive from our volunteers.
