MESSAGE FROM MRS HALL
Over the holidays three conscientious students completed the 2019 PRC. Congratulations to Emmison Shapland Year 7, Juliette Mills Year 5 & Nicholas Strahorn Kinder. Emmison has another two years and 40 books to read before receiving her PRC medal and is very focused on achieving her goal. Juliette completes the Challenge every year with great determination and Nicholas has done extremely well in his first year of PRC.
Students in Years 3 - 9 who are completing the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge, are reminded to enter their choices into their individual records at: https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/studentExperience.html#/; or ask me to enter their choices during Library.
In Week 5 of this term we will be celebrating Book Week in the Library. The theme this year is “Reading is My Super Power”. As it is an odd year there will be no Book Character Parade, but lots of activities and competitions being held. A note will go home shortly about some competitions that students K-10 may like to participate in, leading up to and during Book Week. The theme emphasises that reading gives us the power to go wherever we like and experience places as many different people, without leaving our everyday surroundings. A very wonderful power to possess. I look forward to seeing many students involved in a variety of activities as the week unfolds.
Scholastic Book Club – Issue 5 has been sent home this week with students. Due to a delay, I am now giving parents until Sunday 5th August to complete their orders. My apologies, but unless you can order through the LOOP facility on the Scholastic website, I am unable to process any paper orders at all. Please make a note of this as it has caused some students unnecessary upset.
