Big Plans

Recently, we announced the very exciting news that our school has been successful in an application for a Commonwealth government capital grant.  In total, we have been allocated $1.16 million. This is fantastic news for our students. We've long said that even though we are a small school, our students deserve high-quality facilities that will support their learning. It's great that the government has agreed with us.

Construction of our project is scheduled to get underway in April next year. It will take twelve months to complete. The project includes:

  • A new building with two classrooms, a breakout room, and specialist learning support spaces.
  • Refurbishment of our existing primary classrooms with the existing three classrooms converted into two classrooms with a breakout room and specialist support spaces.
  • New toilets for our primary students
  • A waterproof shade structure over our sports courts.

The new building will sit where the current soccer field is located. That's why we started work on a new oval on the northeastern side of our buildings earlier this term. (It's looking great by the way)

The estimated total cost of the project is $2.5 million. So, we'll need to finance just over half of it ourselves. We're confident we can do that with the support of generous donors and our bank.

We have some plans with drawings of the new facilities pinned to the main noticeboard outside our front office. You can also see them below.

The construction will be staged so as to minimise disruption to our students and their classes. The new building will go up first. Students will move into it while the refurbishment of the existing primary wing takes place.

This is really exciting for our school and we are very grateful to God, the Commonwealth Government, and the Australian taxpayer for this opportunity. Having said that, as wonderful as new facilities are, we know that our most important and valuable resources at our school are our brilliant teachers. I'm so glad that these new facilities will support their efforts to provide the best possible learning opportunities for all of our students.

If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch.
