Uniforms

Even though the end of the year is rapidly approaching, it remains important for all students to wear the correct uniform.

As we head into summer, the Glen Eira College design hats are an important item for students to have in their bags. Hats and caps of any other style will be confiscated by staff.

Shoes must be black leather lace up school shoes. Runners may only be worn with the college PE uniform. Socks must be plain black with no logos and must cover the ankles.

A plain white t-shirt is permissible under the school shirt.  Any plain white t-shirt (i.e. no logos or designs) must be worn as an undershirt only and must not show below the sleeve or below the hemline.

Similarly, please be reminded that all shorts, dresses and skirts should be of an appropriate length - not shorter than 5cm above the knee. The college dress may only be worn with black socks.  The college skirt may be worn with either tights or black socks but not both.

Nails must be of a reasonable length to participate in the curriculum safely.  Students who choose to have fake nails can only do so if they are short and of neutral colour. Long nails are a safety issue and will be addressed by year level coordinators. Makeup and coloured nail polish are not part of the uniform and must not be worn. Natural coloured foundation with SPF is the only permissible makeup.

Students should not wear jewellery to school other than a watch and a max of 2 pairs of studs or sleepers in the ears only.

During term 4 students should be wearing a Glen Eira College hat during Physical Education classes in order to comply with our sunsmart policy. This should also be the case in any interschool sports.

Transition

Transition begins on 29th November. This is only one week for current Year 10 and 11 students and two weeks for everyone else. We will be focusing on consolidating content and skills covered during lockdown and preparing students for 2022.

Vision and Values

Earlier this year, and during 2020, we reviewed our vision and values statements with parents, students and staff. We are seeking to ‘live’ these values on a daily basis. We would appreciate you having a conversation with your children about our values.

Values Statement

Growth and striving – we grow and aspire to learn by innovating and collaborating together.

Equity and integrity – we all have access to a broad range of opportunities that are inclusive of our diverse community.

Care and respect – we care for each other, we act respectfully and support each other in doing our best.
