Brunswick Secondary College now offers its VCAL students the Head Start pathway.

Head Start enables students to commence their career pathway while still at school as a school-based apprentice or trainee.

Head Start students ‘earn as they learn’ combining:

  • School
  • Paid Work, and
  • TAFE training.

A Head Start pathway leads to the completion of an apprenticeship or traineeship qualification in growth industries. Each year Head Start students increase their time in the workplace whilst completing their senior secondary certificate.

Head Start is designed to give students the confidence, capabilities and skills that employers need. The pathway recognises that students learn in different ways, have different passions and empowers their own career choices.

Students undertaking a Head Start pathway will be supported by our local Head Start Director, Jamie Gray. Jamie will work with the school to assist students and their families to establish a tailored Head Start Pathway Plan and to keep students on the right track in the workplace, with vocational studies and their school progress.

Jamie brings a great deal of pathways experience and knowledge to this role and is looking forward to giving Brunswick Secondary College students a Head Start!
