Student of the Week Awards Presented 22/10/21

All Foundation Students - 00L & 00N

This award goes to all Foundation students for their amazing transition back to school this week. It was wonderful to see everyone come back to school with a smile on their face, ready to learn together. We are so happy to have you back at school. You are all amazing Scoresby Superstars!

Shianne Z. - 1/2D

Shianne is to be congratulated for her amazing mathematician skills! This week, Level 1/2 have continued working on Place Value in maths. Shianne was able to successfully expand and partition a four-digit number. She could also model the numbers using MAB blocks and confidently used the language of ‘thousands, hundreds, tens and ones’ to talk about the numbers she created. Congratulations on a great week of Maths, Shianne!

Gracie L. - 1/2F

Gracie is receiving this award for being a remote learning superstar. She always joins Webex meetings on time and consistently completes her work to a high standard. This week she demonstrated her understanding of place value by writing 4 digit numbers in expanded form. Well done, Gracie! Keep up the great work!

Leila W. - 1/2K

This week’s student of the week award goes to Leila for her great efforts in writing. Leila wrote a very persuasive piece of writing about her favourite kind of toy. She gave three very different reasons why they are such a great toy and used emotional language to convince the reader. Well done Leila!

Amir R. - 3/4C

The 3/4C award goes to Amir for demonstrating the Scoresby HEART value of ‘Excellence’ in his writing. Amir used his prior knowledge to answer questions on his chosen topic of ‘fish’, thinking carefully about the information he wanted to include and also wrote a very engaging introduction. Well done Amir!

Ryder L. - 3/4E

During remote learning this week Ryder has attended all WebEx sessions and asked for support or clarification on a tasks when needed. For writing he began drafting an information text about basketball. Ryder wrote a wonderful introduction where he explained a little bit about basketball and what it involves, and included and interesting fact - ‘basketball is played in over 213 countries around the world’. You should be so proud of your writing achievements Ryder, I know I am!

Kate C. - 3/4S

Kate is congratulated on the resilience she has demonstrated through remote learning. As we all experienced, remote learning was a bumpy road with many challenges. Kate showed her resilience by persevering through the tough times. She has been completing her work to a very high standard, sharing her work in small group sessions and contributing to discussions. Well done Kate. Your perseverence had definitely paid off.

Emma M. - 5/6B

Emma always submits her work on time and creates lovely work in Integrated Studies. She has been applying her new knowledge about our solar system to a range of activities. This week, Emma produced a lovely diagram ‘cut away’ of Saturn’s icy moon – Enceladus. She drew and labelled each layer including the icy crust and underground ocean. Well done Emma!

Taliauli K. - 5/6W

For his enthusiasm when learning about division. Over the past two weeks, Tali has demonstrated a ‘can do’ attitude when trying to solve a variety of division problems using the ‘bus stop’ method. He has practised these skills each day and is becoming more confident. It is great to see your positive and hardworking attitude. Keep up the wonderful work Tali! I am so proud to be your teacher. 

Phoebe K. - Visual Arts

Students in Foundation practiced drawing vertical lines and making dabs with a paintbrush to create a picture of poppies for their Remembrance Day art. Phoebe watched the demonstration carefully before making her fantastic picture. She used a variety of greens for her grass and flower stems and carefully arranged her painted poppies. Wonderful work Phoebe!

Lachlan Z. - Mandarin

This award acknowledges and congratulates Lachlan for taking initiative in learning Mandarin this week.  He didn't have any paper or books but still tried his best and watched all of the teaching video.  Well done, Lachlan. I am looking forward to you speaking these Mandarin words to me when we are back at school.
