Putting the 'Sc' in DSC!

In term 3 our science-loving students challenged themselves by sitting the 2-hour Australian Science Olympiad Exam. The exam forms part of the Australian Science Olympiad which is a national enrichment program to extend students across the disciplines of biology, chemistry, physics and earth and environmental sciences.

We  would like to CONGRATULATE the following students who did exceptionally well and were awarded a CREDIT for their work!

  • Dina M., Year 8
  • Anthony S., Year 10
  • Jemma G., Year 10
  • Jenny L., Year 10
  • Scout P., Year 10
  • Adam K., Year 11

Breakfast Club returns!

The re-commencement of on-site learning means that the DSC Breakfast Club can resume!  This Friday - despite the rain - Ms Katie Mills hosted the first Breakfast Club for term 4 outside of W Block.

To be COVID-safe, grab-and-go food was on the menu, and students enjoyed their fruit cups and hot milo.

VCE Folio / Performing Arts Subjects

Congratulations to all students who took a VCE Folio Subject or a Performing Arts Subject in 2021. YOU ARE AMAZING!!!! You have demonstrated perseverance and resilience to remain motivated during a very challenging time.

To celebrate your efforts, DSC has put together a snippet of the work you have done, in an exhibition in TUNNEL VISION at DSC. Students and teachers can walk through and view the exhibition during school hours.

Christmas Gift Bags

We have asked all international students who live with homestays to take a Christmas gift bag home on behalf of Doncaster Secondary College.  We thank our families for their extra efforts on supporting international students during Year 2021 and show our appreciation of their generosity and care that made the students’ life much easier this year.

The response from homestays was overwhelmingly positive. They asked me to pass thank you message to DSC community.

I was genuinely surprised by the thoughtfulness and practicality of the items. Furthermore, I would like to thank yourself and the team for the support you have given us and the students, especially in these tumultuous times. The communication has been very spot on, and I'm very grateful to you personally for your regular check ins throughout the year.
--Angie NG

Thank you so much for the thoughtful gift, it is much appreciated! There has been adversity throughout this journey which impacted everyone but we are glad there is light at the end of the tunnel. Always admire the overwhelming effort teachers and staff display.
--Alvin TIAN

It is so kind of Doncaster Secondary College to give us such a big package of gifts and thank letter as well.  We appreciate it.  We are very happy to have international students staying with us. We treat them as our family members. We care each other and help each other.  We are proud that we could support young children by helping DSC. We will do better next year. We give my thanks to the Principal, Ms Huang and you!

Doncare Food Drive

Thank you to those families who have already donated to the Doncare Food Drive organised by our Intermediate VCAL students.

This food drive will run until Nov 19th.

Just a reminder on how you can get involved:

The food drive accepts a variety of non-fresh foods, such as:

  • Tinned/canned food
  • Packeted snacks
  • Pasta, spaghetti, 2 min noodles, rice (1kg or less)
  • Coffee/tea and biscuits
  • Ready to make foods
  • Sugar, cooking oil, flour
  • Cereals and long-life milk

The food drive is also accepting non-food items like dog/cat food, toilet paper, shampoo/conditioner and dishwashing liquid!

Note that the food drive isn’t accepting fresh food, only non-perishable foods that don’t require refrigeration.

Where you can drop off the items:

Cardboard boxes will be available in the Main staffroom for school staff, and the Year 7, Middle School and Senior School Offices for students to drop off.

If everyone gave 1 item, we would be making a great donation. Please consider donating to the food drive, as it would really help struggling families.

Thanks,

Matt Jenkins, Bayley Jansons and Nathan Salahas

on behalf of Year 11 intermediate VCAL
