'Tame a Trout'

Fishing Competition

Fish and WIN!

Our Stage 4 Integrated Farming project is reaching a milestone.  200 deliciously good looking rainbow trout are ready to be harvested.  From a mere 5cm in length in April, they are now ready for the dinner plate!

So why not take opportunity to celebrate the very fine efforts of our students by hearing about their wonderful achievements, raising a few dollars to further support the aquaponics project, and all the while, having some fun too?

Date:  Wednesday 10 November (that's next week)

Time:  5.30pm

Where:  The School's Aquaponics Shed

Who:  Anyone is welcome (children must be accompanied by an adult)

Competition entry:  $10

Rules:  Each entrant will be given an opportunity to catch a single fish from the trout tank. If you catch the tagged fish, you win the prize - a BCF voucher.  It's that simple!

The competition will be run respectfully and fully mindful of the requirement for ethical fish harvesting practices.

What to bring:  Just yourself.

After the event:

The overall purpose of the evening is to harvest all trout from the system, clean them and place them on ice, before they are shipped off to be smoked and prepared for sale the following day.  Some volunteer support to help clean the fish would be appreciated - many hands make light work.

We'll fire up the BBQ for a sausage sizzle as a thank you to those who are able to stay and assist us in this way.
