Year 8 

Student Update

Hi Year 8s - I’m Joshua, and this is Ava. Today we will be covering some of the activities and schoolwork the year eight cohort got up to. We did spend much of Semester 2 in lockdown, and as with all of our sessions of remote learning many activities were halted. However, there was some fantastic work completed during lockdown, and toward the end of the year, after returning to on-site learning, we managed to get up to some fun and engaging activities.

Recently we had our adventure week in week 8 of this term, where classes paired up with other homegroups participating in various activities. On monday, the first day in our adventure week, many caught the train or bus to places around the city, including Northlands, Melbourne Central and Federation Square. We also went to Melbourne Zoo on Tuesday, and finished it off with a picnic at bridges reserve and saw The Eternals at Pentridge cinema. 

I don’t know about you, Ava, but I actually quite enjoyed the constant sound effects throughout the movie from the year 8’s! Over the course of this semester, the year 8’s have undergone some great units in our Core and Specialist Subjects. I really enjoyed our unit on Medieval Europe and the Italian Renaissance in Humanities, and as an enthusiastic Mathematician, I also very much enjoyed my work in that area.

I loved coming back from online learning and being able to socialise with my friends again. 

Well done to persevering through a tough year. We wish you all fantastic holidays, and good luck for a wholesome and engaging return to school next year.
