YEAR 11 BM EXPLORE FAMOUS ENTREPRENEURS!

As part of Unit 1 Business Management students undertook research and completed a formal presentation on a famous entrepreneur of choice. This entrepreneur had to have proven to find a way to solve consumer problems by creating and/or investing in a product or service that is new and innovative. Here are some student reflections on this assessment!

Marie Lucarelli and Jason Evans

VCE Business Management Teachers

The Business presentation shared some personal attributes and motivations of famous entrepreneurs and the story behind their product/service. Our group researched a famous entrepreneur and pitched the idea behind their business. This assessment in Business Management is highly enjoyable as you can work with your friends who share the same vision. Ms Lucarelli assisted us to get a deeper understanding of how entrepreneurs set goals and create their businesses. Business Management as a subject is highly recommended if you have a passion for business and its fundamentals. - Greg Kurani

This helps our learning because we researched how this entrepreneur became what he is today and what strategies he used. Jeff Bezos has a story that many people can learn from through his research in the market and how he saw an online business is what society needed.

Business Management helps you build understanding on what goes into a business and the key values on how they are what they are today. Understanding business concepts and goals can help you in the future if you would like to run a business. -Caden Begg

Our group studied Kanye West, an entrepreneur mostly known for his music. We tried to study his shoe brand named “Yeezy” and how his new shoes became successful and popular. We also had to outline Kanye’s skills to maintain his business. This SAC helped us understand the subject and the terminology of businesses more. This class is great fun and you can develop useful skills for after graduation, when you get into professional life. - Paul Mengelle

My group and I chose an entrepreneur from anywhere around the world to present to the class. We were in groups of 2-3 and had to do research and then make a slideshow to present our information. My group and I chose Jeff Bezos as our entrepreneur. We chose him because he is an interesting figure. This task teaches us about how to research and how to successfully start and business. Highly recommended to Year 9/10 students. - Sam Enever

In the Sac we chose a famous entrepreneur and researched about them and made a presentation. My group chose Jeff Bezos. Researching about the entrepreneurs helps us with our learning in Business Management as we learn where they started and what they did before they became a famous entrepreneur. I recommend this subject as this is a subject that is easy to understand and very interesting to pick up. - Lachlan Shen

I really enjoyed learning about a female entrepreneur, as I found it really inspiring to research about a woman (Coco Chanel) who built her business from the ground up, in a male-dominated industry. This task allowed me to work on my public speaking skills, and work on my confidence with getting up in front of my class. Conducting research on a famous entrepreneur and their business helped me better understand the complexity of starting up and running a business. I especially enjoyed how my group members and I encouraged each other and supported one another. -Tia Fischman

In this lesson, we presented or watched other people’s presentations on the famous entrepreneurs that we studied for the last week. My group studied Kanye West and talked mostly about his business Yeezy. From this Sac, I learned how to use business terms and implement them while talking about a person. From watching other people’s presentations, I learnt and graded myself on how my own presentation went and made mental notes of how I could improve next time. I highly recommend this subject as it is extremely fun and interesting. - Ella Ruze

Today groups of 2-3 presented about one entrepreneur and each presentation went for around 5 minutes. Jamie Lang and myself chose Bill Gates as our entrepreneur and with researching about him we both learnt so much. These presentations help us in our learning journey for Business Management because we see what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur and what they did to get to that high status. - Nicholas Mavropoulos

In this lesson we presented an oral presentation that we had been working on, in which we had to research a famous entrepreneur. My group chose to do our presentation on the late Anita Roddick, the founder of the Body Shop. This will help us in the future because it taught us the inner workings of a business.  - Maggie MacDonald

We researched a chosen entrepreneur and identified how they are successful in their business, presenting our findings to the class through a slideshow about the background and future of the business. - Jolee Sacks

Today we finished off our slides on researching our entrepreneur and then started presenting them. This presentation helps my journey with Business Management because I have learned how Elon Musk, a successful entrepreneur has become the richest entrepreneur. - Faraz Faisal

We had our assessment task of creating a presentation on a famous business owner and what factors helped them to succeed in their business. I was in a group that was doing Howard Schultz who was the CEO of Starbucks until the year 2000. By doing this assessment it allows us to go into detail and provide evidence of what we have been learning. - Harrison Cooper

Today groups of 2-3 people presented to the class their presentation on their chosen well-known entrepreneur. Each presentation was around 5 minutes, each of them being very engaging and enjoyable to listen and learn. Myself and my partner Nick Mavropoulos chose to do our presentation on Bill Gates and his company Microsoft. These presentations help us in our learning for business management as it teaches us what traits and requirements are required to become a successful entrepreneur. - Jamie Lang

It helps us learn in Business Management by having an understanding of how such successful entrepreneurs made their own business today and how they built it up to become so successful and gives us an understanding of how hard you need to work to be successful. My recommendation to Year 9s and 10s is to do Business Management because you will get a good understanding of how to run a business and how famous entrepreneurs like Jeff Bezos became so rich and successful. - Mitchell Johnston

In Ms Lucarelli’s Business Management class, we had to research an entrepreneur in depth about their brand and companies they own. My group researched Nigel Austin who is the owner of Cotton On the clothing brand. This task helped us understand the things we need to know when starting a business and how successful entrepreneurs came to be so successful. This is a very good task to start with in Business Management and it is very fun and relaxed. - Katherine Kim
