OUTDOOR EDUCATION

For the year 9 Outdoor Education program classes went on bike trips, sailing, and went on a four-day camp to Waratah bay, where we cooked all our meals on trangias, went surfing, biking, and hiked through bush and along the beach.

We trained on our bikes at school before taking them out along bike paths in the parks and bushland around Hays Paddock, and we all had a great time. We went on about three different bike trips, and we all improved our riding skills.

For sailing, we took the tram to Albert Park lake for a full day excursion. We all divided into pairs and the instructor explained how to set up the boats. We got out onto the lake without much trouble, and everyone was sailing by themselves by the end of it, this was one of my favourite activities, I had never done it before and I really enjoyed it.

For our camp we had weeks to prepare. We planned our meals and got our packs and on the way we stopped off at a surf class, where everyone had the chance to catch some waves. During the camp we hiked for four hours, we cooked our meals ourselves, slept in tents and had various night activities on the beach.
