Quicksmart

As the end of the year quickly approaches, I’d like to give a big shout out to the QuickSmart students who remained engaged throughout remote learning and have managed to continue to build and strengthen their skills in literacy. 

QuickSmart students are certainly a competitive bunch! On our display board we have the highest score ever reached in Flash Cards with a phenomenal total of 115 words per minute. This title has been held by a past student since 2019. Youssef certainly set the bar high, (nearly killing me in the process by making me lay down cards at a speed which does not come naturally to the average human being). But the challengers are coming!!!!

The record has been broken!

At long last we have not one but two new champions! Congratulations to Adriana Jovanovic for an amazing score of 118! After a three-year drought, our thirst was quenched on 19/11/21 when Adriana shot to the top of the charts. Then much to my amazement, Annalyse Bartleson scored 117 five days later! A fantastic achievement for both. Since my last report in the newsletter many more students have reached the 90 to 100 and over in the Flash Card minute. It would be remiss of me not to mention their names as they have strived to have a place on the board.

So Congratulations to Nathan Bekiaris, Ben Ridding, Jennifer Loar, Chris Bakopolous, Nathaniel Koumakis, Maddison Lagana, Hassan Dirani, Riley Pegoraro, Jacob Weber, Myron Sinni and Alend Shaker.

To everyone in the Epping Secondary College Community, all of us here in QuickSmart would like to send you our warmest wishes for a safe and joyful Christmas, and wonderful year in 2022!
