VCAL 2022

The year 12 VCAL Cohort of 2022 participated in a two day early commencement program. The theme of the program was ‘Know Your Why.’ During the two days students explored through workshops, group tasks and guest speakers, the importance of how knowing your motivators and reasons for doing what you choose to do, help you to ‘walk with purpose.’

Students heard from guest speakers from MEGT and Melbourne Polytechnic as well as a motivational speaker, Dr Batool. Dr Batool Albatat is currently working as a surgical resident at the Northern Hospital. She has graduated with a Bachelor of Biomedical Science and Honours before completing her Medical Degree at University of Melbourne. Dr Batool shared with us her journey of arriving from Iraq to Australia and her journey into medicine. They completed short applied learning tasks that gave them an insight into what being an applied learner at the senior level looks like and acts like. They looked at the leadership traits necessary to be successful in their own lives and how certain traits and mindsets assist people in overcoming challenges. We celebrated our successes and triumphs over this challenging year.  By the end of the two days students reported feeling confident about VCAL 2022 and had an awareness of how important keeping their goals in mind is at all times.
