Principal's Report

Jessica Sargeant

This week we see years of planning come to fruition with the official opening of the indigenous garden and yarning circle. This is a healing garden and contains native plants, Lemon-scented Gum, Cherry Ballard and Wattle. Thanks to the work of Howard Armstrong, David Doherty and Karen Vick who have been the key drivers behind this initiative. I encourage you all to have a look when you are next visiting the school. The mosaic art works were completed with the assistance of many students during lockdown, and they can certainly be proud of their efforts. In addition, our junior art classes painted rocks as a symbol of healing.

This week all students and staff have moved up a year for step up and are tackling new classes in preparation for the 2022 school year. It has been great to see the engagement with new subjects and classes.

Recently I had the opportunity to attend the Beacon Foundation annual dinner. It was great to see young leaders from Echuca College sharing their leadership experiences with local business leaders. I encourage any budding leaders to put their hand up for this opportunity in 2022.

Next week we will be having an activities week for students. Students will receive the sign-up options on Friday and can sign up for a range of activities on offer. Thanks to Deb Johnson for her organisation of this.
