What an extraordinary and challenging time, it has been for all of us during this pandemic! I’m hopeful, based on the daily number of COVID cases being reported recently, that students will return to school during Term 4. Dates for our return to school, is noted below and under the Dates to Remember section of this Newsletter.

The staff and I, have been overwhelmed by your gifts of appreciation for our efforts during remote learning. I thank you for your support of us as educators and for supporting your child's learning during this time.

While we have risen to the challenge and delivered a fantastic program during remote learning, it has not been without its challenges. As teachers, we are not trained to deliver education virtually nor are we trained to use an application like Zoom. I do not know of another primary school who have delivered virtual lessons from 9am - 3.30pm every day since April. I'm incredibly proud of my staff, who have worked tirelessly during this time, to provide the best education they can, under very difficult circumstances. The staff are exhausted and are very deserving of a rest during these holidays.

Parent Surveys on Remote Learning

Catholic Education Melbourne have put together a survey for you as parents to give your feedback on remote learning delivered by our school. We would appreciate you completing the survey, as we value your feedback, so we can continue to improve.

Our students in the Senior Learning Community and our staff have also been given an opportunity to provide their feedback.

New Families

I have great pleasure in advising we have 2 new families (3 students) joining our community in Term 4.

Jemima (parents, Brian and Kerry) will be joining our Middle Learning Community in Year 3 and twins Thomas and Luca (parents, Steve and Natasha) will be joining our Junior Learning Community in Year 1. Please join me in making them feel welcome.

Word is spreading about the quality teaching and learning that happens here at St Bridget's, where we cater for the needs of all our students. Word of mouth has been identified as the most effective form of marketing, so please keep spreading the word.

Website Update

We are continually updating our school website. The latest update includes a section titled 'Upschool'. This section includes videos of our teachers providing advice and lessons for current and prospective parents to support their child's learning at home. The videos cover the following areas.

Literacy
Numeracy
Wellbeing
Health and Physical Education
School Readiness

Annual Report 2019

Each year, I'm required to write an Annual Report to the Community, which is a summary of the happenings, results and plans for the year past. The Annual Report for 2019 is now available and is attached for your information.

Thank you to all those parents who contributed towards Angelica's gift, for the birth of her beautiful baby girl Kate. On behalf of the community, a wooden rainbow was purchased (refer photo below) together with a $250 gift voucher from Mr Wolf. Thank you Talia for organising and delivering the gift.

Return to School in Term 4

In line with the Victorian Government’s roadmap for reopening for Metropolitan Melbourne the plan for returning to school for Term 4 will be as follows.

Monday 5 October - Term 4 starts - all students will continue remote learning at home unless you have approval from the school for your child to attend school onsite.

Monday 12 October - Students from Prep to Year 3 return to school onsite.

Please note, this is subject to the average daily case rate in Metro Melbourne reaching 30-50 cases over a 14-day period with public health advice regarding transmission source.

Monday 26 October - Students from Year 4 to 6 return to school onsite.

Please note, this is subject to Metro Melbourne reaching <5 new cases (state-wide average over last 14 days) and <5 cases with unknown source (statewide total last 14 days).

Where Metro Melbourne does not reach the targets set by the Victorian Government, remote learning will continue until further notice.
