TERM 3

Another crazy term but we have still remained active and had fun during the term which I hope has helped to keep the children motivated during a challenging time.  When I look back on what we have achieved while not being together, it has been a big term.  This term we have:

  • Developed our basketball skills
  • Learnt and developed our skipping skills and tricks
  • Celebrated the Olympics which should have been with some challenges at home replicating hockey, basketball, soccer, volleyball, gymnastics, baseball, boxing and cycling.
  • Aerobics unit (aerofun and aeroskills program)
  • Finished off the term with some fun games.

During this term we have managed to learn or develop our:

  • hand eye coordination
  • improve gross and fine motor skills,
  • Improve body coordination
  • Cross-lateral exercises that stimulate brain function and learning
  • Fundamental movement skills have been learnt, developed and mastered - catching, throwing, balancing and jumping.
  • And most importantly good sportsmanship, even remotely.

A highlight for me this term was our Jump Off Day on Friday 4th September.  Not only did we raise $2,989.79 which was sensational, what put a huge smile on my face personally was the developments all of the students have made since we started skipping together in Term 2.

Some of the students could not even skip back then and were able to skip 5, 10, 15 times without stopping.  The persistence and the smiles of satisfaction is what warmed my heart and reminded me what I love about my job! So a HUGE congratulations to every student for persisting and challenging themselves during what is already a challenging time in their life.  I hope the skipping doesn’t stop there though, this is a fantastic way to contribute to their 60 minutes during the day especially during these restrictions. So use the holidays to keep skipping.

When we return to school, if you borrowed a skipping rope from school, if you could please return these so we can continue to skip together at school in the coming months.

I want to thank all of the students for participating in PE this term, giving it a go, even if they felt out of their comfort zone.  I am extremely proud of each and every one of them.  I look forward to seeing all of you hopefully in Term 4 for some new skills development and games to be played.

Wishing you all a safe and restful holiday break.

Stay safe, stay active
