The Sims computer game used in the Design Classroom

During our semester of digitally learning design, as students we have had to become creative about how we approach different tasks and assessments. Our second task this semester was to design and build a shipping container tiny home, with many programs at the touch of our fingertips, even video games such as The Sims have proven to be a fun, and unconventional tool for visualising our design and ideas despite the limitations! While video games are often viewed by society as distracting and harmful to students’ grades, they can also spark inspiration and create art in a medium outside of the box, or well… maybe in this case inside of it!
