Message from the Head of Secondary

From the Head of Secondary - Mr Eliot Sanger

It has been a very busy and productive term and I think we are all ready for the mid-year break. In the past couple of weeks we have had Experience Day for our new students, the wonderful House Music and House War Cry and Tug-O-War competitions, and we have finished with a Secondary Dance and a Mufti Day to support our Service Learning Trip to Cambodia and the support this team will be giving communities and NGOs during their time in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.

The full gallery of photos of these events can be found on The Hub, or be clicking here.

Cambodia Service Learning Trip

The Calrossy Cambodia Service Learning Team departs on 12th July, bound for Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, for 12 days of experiencing a developing country, its culture, people and religion, and an opportunity to serve communities by sharing what we have with those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Part of this opportunity is to learn how to do this in an ethically sustainable way that has long term solutions as its goal. You can follow the Team – follow Head_Secondary@Calrossy on Instagram for daily updates.

Thank you to the Secondary students who supported donations to some of our partner NGOs through Gold Coin donations on Mufti Day. These will go to support Women of Hope, The Hard Places Community and Be Free Cambodia, NGOs seeking to support men, women and children suffering from poverty, isolation and the effects of human trafficking.

Congratulations to our 7/8 boys C Grade Basketball team – the Calrossy Kings – for their sensational grand final win. The team, made up of Calrossy and a few Tamworth High School students, beat Oxley 43 – 36 in a tough tussle to claim victory in the season grand final on Wednesday night. Our boys, including Lachlan McEvoy, Hamish Ward, Sidney Dangerfield and Digby Dalitz, fought hard for this victory and they would love to thank their coach and Ms Lasker for her support throughout the season. Well done boys!

I wish all our Calrossy families a wonderful, restful, safe and family centred holiday break. We look forward to seeing you in Semester Two which commences on Monday 22nd July, 2019.

Blessings to all.

Eliot Sanger
