Foundation CAS

Calrossy Foundation

Calrossy Anglican School has always championed a culture of charity and benevolence. Bursaries and scholarships were first supported in our earliest days and this continues today along with support for our future resourcing, construction and development projects.

In this our Centenary Year it seems the perfect time to take this a step further. The Calrossy Anglican School Foundation (Foundation CAS) has been established to manage these initiatives to support the growth of Calrossy into the future;

Together with the Community Development Office, Foundation CAS is the body through which the philanthropic, corporate and community initiatives for the School will be advanced.

By Calrossy formalising Foundation CAS we are now able to provide:

  • a transparent means of managing financial gifts to the ‘school’,
  • donors with a tax deductible means of providing gifts to the ‘school' (whatever their size)
  • financial support to students, who otherwise might not gain the advantages of a Calrossy education

The funds raised through Foundation CAS will be used to provide essential financial support for important infrastructure developments, library resourcing, plus scholarships and bursaries for day and boarding students. The Foundation has benefitted from generous everlasting financial gifts;

  • Scholarship Fund - Lady Margaret Grieve and Sir Robert Roland Grieve have generously made a Bequest which has been directed to establish a Scholarship Fund
  • Bursary Fund - a generous Bequest from Jean Mercer (past TCEGS student) has established a Bursary Fund
  • Library Fund
  • Building Fund

The Foundation CAS Committee has been formed to help steer this exciting endeavour. It includes representatives from all areas of Calrossy’s diverse community.  For the full list of Committee members click here https://bit.ly/2WJg4rm

Our School currently has a development application before Tamworth Regional Council for a $4.1 million project to construct a multi-use classroom (MUC) block on our William Cowper Campus, which will be due for completion at the end of 2020, for use in January 2021. Delivering fresh and flexible learning areas for our students, including a Performing Arts area, Design and Technology classrooms, four Science laboratories, general classrooms plus storage, prep areas, as well as student and staff amenities. With the establishment of Foundation CAS the MUC1 project has been identified as the recipient of all current funds and donations provided to the Building Fund. Some examples of how our Calrossy Community are supporting Foundation CAS are:

  1. Some families regularly donate to the Building Fund with a regular, voluntary, ‘extra’ amount paid with each Term’s Fee invoice
  2. Families in the past have asked, as their youngest students have graduated from Calrossy, to have their original deposits transferred to assist other families in financial need.
  3. Alumni have chosen to make a bequest to the school, now the Foundation, as part of their Will
