Message from Principal Sally

Winter Is Coming!

It is a common refrain as the temperatures drop.  Winter is indeed coming and with it a new set of obstacles present. Whilst we understand it is not as pleasant walking or riding to school it’s probably more pleasant than the frustration of trying to find a parking spot. With 824 children, parents, carers and staff attempting to come to school on time, it is becoming more and more difficult to assume you will find a parking spot. We encourage those who do have to drive to park further away and walk the last section of your journey or use the ‘kiss and drop’  zone as a drop off zone not a parking space.

NAPLAN

Week 4 is NAPLAN WEEK all students in Year 3 and 5 have been involved in the standardised testing. If your child was ill please record their absence using the Compass App. Do not send them to school thinking the test is more important than their health and the health of others. With the dreadful gastro outbreak last week we are very concerned about the contagious aspect of illness at school.  The guidelines permit supervised make-up tests if necessary and the guidelines are always followed strictly at NMPS.  Contact your classroom teacher via Compass email if this is an issue for you.

As our NAPLAN testing was taken on paper, we were not affected by the technical glitches that have plagued the first day of NAPLAN Online.

CROSS COUNTRY TEAM

This Friday 17th May,  the district cross country will be held and we have a wonderfully excited team of 36 attending.

MOTHER'S DAY STALL

Thanks to the volunteers who assisted with our Mother’s Day Stall. It was delightful to see the excitement of shopping with real money. One little person was most concerned that silver money wouldn’t be appropriate currency but was thrilled to see  the options available even with silver coins!

ELECTION DAY - Saturday 18 May

The election will  see our gym used as a Polling Booth, one of the largest.  Rotary will manage the sausage sales and they donate to a fund to support families experiencing hardship. Our school families will have a coffee cart and a cake stall with funds to continue to improve our outdoor spaces.  Come along and show your support.

The National Assessment Program

NAPLAN 2019 for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 students will be held on Tuesday 14 May (yesterday), Wednesday 15 May (today) and Thursday 16 May 2019.

With the weather getting cooler students may wish to join a lunchtime club.
